Questions for Discussion:

  1. If you watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with friends and family, how did folks react during The Prom performance? How did it make you feel?

  2. The Prom is a Broadway show about a young lesbian couple whose desire to attend the prom leads the PTA to cancel the dance. If something similar happened in your community, what local, state, and national resources would you recommend to students and/or parents?

  3. In your opinion, why might parents struggle to have conversations about sexual orientation and gender identity with their children? Do you have any suggestions that might help parents? What would have been helpful for you when you were a child?
