Questions for Discussion:

  1. Were you aware of some of the healthcare disparities or increased risk behaviors, such as postponing care and higher rates of tobacco use, for LGBTQ+ folks outlined in this article?

  2. If you are LGBTQ+ identified – and feel comfortable sharing – are you out to your doctor? Why or why not? If you are, was there anything specific that made you feel comfortable enough to come out? If not, is there anything specific your doctor could do to create that level of comfort and trust?

  3. If a medical professional approached your group looking for educational resources or training focused on LGBTQ+ issues, what would you recommend? If you’re not sure, where do you think you would start looking for those kinds of resources? (Helpful hint: This might be a great place to get started!)
